I got a Cricut Expressions 2 for Christmas!!!!! Thanks, Santa! I am in craft heaven over here:)
Before I even took my Cricut out of the box, I searched for some tutorials online to help get me started. Here is one I really like from Jana Eubanks – super easy to follow, her whole series is great!
To begin this project, start with a piece of black cardstock – I cut an 8 1/2 by 11 piece in half.
Then, rev that baby up…
For this project, I used the “Create a Critter 2” cartridge.
I pushed the “phrases” button after inserting the cartridge…
Then the shift key…
All three cuts I made were from this “page”.
First, I cut an oval out of neon orange cardstock.
Then, I glued it onto the top of the black paper.
Then, came my new find – glitter tape!!! Where has this been all my life?
I took two different colors and made an off-center “X” under the oval.
Then, I printed out the party info right onto some neon purple cardstock. and cut it out with pinking sheers.
Next, I glued the purple paper under the oval. and on top of the glitter tape.
Then, I cut the word “Party” out of neon pink cardstock and the word “time” out of neon green cardstock and glued them over the oval.
I wanted the words to pop a little more, so I used an ultra-fine point Sharpie to outline the letters.
Next, break out the bling! I found these neon rhinestones at Joanne’s-in the dollar section!
Add some sparkle and you’re done!
What parties and themes are you thinking about for the new year?
Have a happy-crafty kind of day!
