#3 in my backyard birthday party series…backyard campout party! I always wanted to do this as a kid!
1st, put up a tent of some sort. This could be a camping tent, or you could even make one.
Here’s an adorable one from curbly.com. Click on the picture for the how-to:)
Decorate the back yard with Christmas twinkle lights and paper lanterns. Throw down some out door pillows and create a fire pit for the final camping touch.
DIYcozyhome.com shows you how, here:
They even have an idea for a “fire-less pit”, if you just want the look.
For the menu, cook hotdogs over the open flame and serve with chips and don’t forget the s’mores!
Give flashlights for the favors and use paint pens or sharpies for crafty-personalization. You could even use them to tell ghost stories before bedtime! Also, there are really cool apps that can tell you about constellations and stars, have the kids try to find constellations or stars and planets with their phones, or use a telescope to star gaze!
Then, let the kids sleep outside!
Make sure they will be warm enough – provide extra blankets, just in case, and leave the back door unlocked and space for guests to come inside and sleep, if they would rather.
Easy, fun, inexpensive and keeping the kids outside means no messy house – yay!
Peace and love…
